Sanorin nasal drops with eucalyptus oil emulsion 0.1% fl 10ml

Pharmacological properties

Sanorin-Analergin solution is used in ophthalmology as a local combined antiallergic and vasoconstrictor. One of its components, naphazoline, belongs to the group of alpha2-adrenergic agonists and has a pronounced and long-lasting vasoconstrictor effect. Thanks to it, it significantly reduces swelling, exudative manifestations and redness of the mucous membranes.

The second component of the antazoline solution is an H1-histamine receptor blocker that has antiallergic and anti-edematous effects.

With prolonged use, the drug is addictive and its effectiveness decreases.

pharmachologic effect

Alpha2-adrenergic agonist. When applied topically, it has a rapid, pronounced and long-lasting vasoconstrictor effect on the vessels of the mucous membrane (reduces swelling, hyperemia, exudation). Facilitates nasal breathing during rhinitis. After 5-7 days of use, tolerance occurs.

Indications for use

- acute rhinitis; - sinusitis; - eustachitis; - laryngitis; — to facilitate rhinoscopy; - the need to stop nosebleeds.

Side effects

From the digestive system: nausea. From the cardiovascular system: tachycardia, increased blood pressure. From the central nervous system: headache, irritability. Allergic reactions: rash. Local reactions: - reactive hyperemia, swelling of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity; - when used for more than 1 week - irritation, in some cases - swelling of the nasal mucosa.

Contraindications

- chronic rhinitis;
- arterial hypertension; - severe atherosclerosis; - tachycardia; - thyrotoxicosis; - diabetes; - simultaneous use of MAO inhibitors and a period of up to 14 days after the end of their use; - children under 15 years of age; - hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding Data on the safety of the drug during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding) are not provided.

Use in children Contraindication: children under 15 years of age.

Mode of application

Adults are prescribed 1-3 drops in each nasal passage 2-3 times a day. Use short-term, no more than 1 week. If nasal breathing becomes easier, then the use of Sanorin with eucalyptus oil can be stopped earlier. Repeated use of the drug is possible after a few days. The bottle must be shaken before use. An open bottle of the drug can be used for 4 weeks.

special instructions

With long-term use, the severity of the vasoconstrictor effect gradually decreases (the phenomenon of tachyphylaxis), and therefore it is recommended that after 5-7 days of use in adults, take a break for several days. The drug may have a resorptive effect. The need to use the drug Sanorin with eucalyptus oil with other medications is determined by the doctor individually.

Overdose

Symptoms: prolonged or frequent administration of the drug Sanorin with eucalyptus oil into the nasal cavity can cause swelling of the nasal mucosa and a feeling of congestion. The danger of overdose (especially if swallowed) of the drug Sanorin with eucalyptus oil occurs in young children and can cause depression of the central nervous system, the manifestations of which are drowsiness, decreased body temperature, increased sweating, slowed heart rate, increased blood pressure or its subsequent decrease, and extremely rarely - coma . Treatment: symptomatic therapy.

Interaction with other drugs

Concomitant use with MAO inhibitors and for a period of up to 14 days after the end of their use increases the risk of developing severe arterial hypertension (release of deposited catecholamines under the influence of naphazoline). Slows down the absorption of local anesthetics.

Special instructions for the use of the drug Sanorin

If the drug is used for a long time, it should be taken into account that its vasoconstrictor effect gradually decreases, and therefore after 5-7 days of treatment it is necessary to take a break for several days. Children and patients with diseases of the cardiovascular system (hypertension, arterial hypertension), coronary artery disease, heart failure) or metabolic disorders (hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus), pheochromocytoma, asthma can use Sanorin only under the supervision of a physician. When treating with Sanorin, care must be taken during anesthesia with the use of anesthetics that increase the sensitivity of the myocardium to sympathomimetics (for example, halothane). Long-term use (1 week) of the drug should be avoided, as this can cause swelling with further atrophy of the nasal mucosa. During pregnancy and breastfeeding. Sanorin can be used only in cases where the expected benefit from use outweighs the potential risk to the fetus/child. Sanorin does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and machinery.

Overdose of the drug Sanorin, symptoms and treatment

Long-term or too frequent use of the drug can cause the development of severe reactive hyperemia of the nasal mucosa. An overdose or accidental ingestion of the drug can cause systemic side effects, which are manifested by nervousness, increased sweating, headache, tremor, tachycardia, palpitations, hypertension (arterial hypertension). Cyanosis, nausea, hyperthermia, cardiac arrest, pulmonary edema, and mental disorders are also possible. The depressant effect on the central nervous system is manifested by symptoms such as hypothermia, bradycardia, excessive sweating, drowsiness, hypotensive shock, apnea, coma. Treatment is symptomatic. The risk of overdose exists if the drug is accidentally used in young children and is manifested by hypothermia, bradycardia, increased sweating, respiratory failure, drowsiness, arterial hypo- or hypertension, and loss of consciousness. Treatment: emergency medical care.

Use of the drug Sanorin

Nasal drops 0.05 and 0.1%, emulsion for intranasal use 0.1%: adults, 1–3 drops of 0.1% solution or emulsion in each nasal passage; children aged 2–6 years: 1–2 drops of 0.05% solution; 6–15 years - 2 drops of 0.05% solution. Dosage regimen - 2-3 times a day with an interval of at least 4 hours. Nasal spray 0.1%: adults and children over 15 years of age 1-3 irrigations of the spray in each nasal passage 3 times a day with an interval of at least 4 hours 1 dose corresponds to 1 vigorous press on the bottle. Immediately after using the spray, it is recommended to inhale through the nose. The drug Sanorin is not recommended for adults to use for more than 1 week, for children - for more than 3 days; the use of the drug in the presence of positive clinical dynamics can be stopped earlier. Repeated use of Sanorin is possible only after a few days.

Pharmacological properties of the drug Sanorin

The active substance of the drug Sanorin - naphazoline - belongs to the group of α2-adrenergic agonists. By stimulating α2-adrenergic receptors, it causes vasoconstriction. When applied to the mucous membranes, due to the vasoconstrictor effect, it reduces swelling, hyperemia, and exudation, which helps to ease nasal breathing during rhinitis. Promotes the opening and expansion of the excretory ducts of the paranasal sinuses and eustachian tubes, which improves the outflow of secretions and prevents the deposition of bacteria. It is characterized by a rapid onset of action, a pronounced and long-lasting vasoconstrictor effect (the therapeutic effect occurs within 5 minutes and lasts 4–6 hours).

Side effects of the drug Sanorin

If the dosage regimen is followed, Sanorin is usually well tolerated. In some cases, side effects may appear due to the local action of the drug - irritation of the mucous membrane, burning, dryness, reactive hyperemia; as well as the resorptive effect of the drug due to irritation of the sympathetic nervous system: irritability, increased sweating, weakness, tremor, palpitations, nausea, headache, in some cases - increased blood pressure, tachycardia. Long-term and frequent use of Sanorin can lead to chronic nasal congestion and drying of the mucous membrane.
