Duovit - a complex of vitamins for women and men
Review your diet for essential vitamins in advance - three months to a year before you plan to conceive. This will not only increase your chances of conceiving, but will also help the proper intrauterine development of the fetus.
The need for vitamins during pregnancy increases by approximately 1.5-2 times, which is due to the intensification of metabolic processes in the mother’s body, as well as the use of some vitamins to meet the metabolic needs of the growing fetus.
Unfortunately, in Russia, expectant mothers often experience moderate or severe vitamin deficiency, so according to the Research Institute of Nutrition of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, 100% of women were found to be deficient in vitamin B6, 96% - B1, 77% - folic acid and 64% - vitamin WITH.
Vitamin B9 (folic acid)
. Folic acid is necessary from the very first days of pregnancy, since already in the second week in the embryo it is possible to identify the part from which the brain, the highest creation of nature, begins to rapidly develop. Folic acid deficiency is one of the main reasons for the birth of premature babies and children with pathologies of the central nervous system. Therefore, already at the pregnancy planning stage, to prevent fetal malformations and other abnormalities, it is mandatory to take vitamin and mineral complexes containing folic acid. It must be borne in mind that when using oral contraceptives, the concentration of folic acid in the blood may decrease. Therefore, taking B9 when planning pregnancy is mandatory for its onset, physiological course, as well as proper development of the fetus.
Vitamin A (retinol).
Normally, an adult's need for vitamin A is met by regular food. The need for additional small doses of vitamin A arises during periods of increased need for it, including during multiple pregnancies, as well as when there is insufficient retinol content in food. The recommended intake level of vitamin A for pregnant women is 1-1.2 mg.
Vitamin E
Helps reduce the risk of pregnancy complications such as preeclampsia (excess fluid accumulation and high blood pressure in the last trimester).
Zinc.
Zinc content decreases during pregnancy by an average of 30 percent. Replenishing the deficiency of this microelement reduces the likelihood of miscarriage, premature birth, complicated labor, low birth weight and toxemia.
In a significant proportion of pregnant and lactating women, multivitamin deficiency is combined with iron deficiency, which is the reason for the widespread occurrence of latent and overt forms of iron deficiency anemia, i.e. anemia. Therefore, during pregnancy, additional iron intake is simply necessary.
In recent years, the problem of insufficient consumption of the most important element - iodine
. The harm caused by this deficiency to the health of mother and child cannot be overestimated. Every pregnant woman must take iodine supplements, because it is important not only for the health of the mother herself, but also for the proper formation of the fetus, since it is responsible for the memory, hearing, mental and physical abilities of the baby.
During pregnancy, you need to consume enough vitamin B6, both for normal growth and to relieve nausea associated with pregnancy hormones.
It is important to remember that an insufficient supply of vitamins and essential mineral salts disrupts the flow of metabolism, interferes with the normal development of the fetus and newborn, wears out the strength and undermines the health of the mother in labor. The most important condition for the birth of a strong baby, his successful growth and development is the full provision of the woman’s body with all the necessary micronutrients.
Be healthy, take care of yourself!
Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics
Pharmacodynamics
B vitamins are involved in the metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates and fats and are indispensable for the proper functioning of the nervous system. Retinol is essential for the development of epithelial cells and for the production of visual pigment. Vitamin D is responsible for calcium and bone mineralization. Ascorbic acid is responsible for the absorption of iron and is a necessary component of redox reactions in the body. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant and membrane protector.
Oligoelements and minerals are also extremely important. Calcium ions are involved in the regulation of cardiac muscle tone and in the processes of occurrence of nerve impulses. Phosphorus and calcium are essential elements of bones and teeth . Copper and iron are structural components of red blood cells. Magnesium, zinc, manganese and molybdenum are components of a number of important enzymes.
Pharmacokinetics
Water-soluble vitamins (group B , ascorbic acid and biotin ) are perfectly absorbed within the daily requirement. The remaining amount is excreted in urine and feces.
After intake, lipophilic vitamins A and D are absorbed in the presence of fats in the small intestine. Absorption of alpha-tocopherol ranges from 25% to 80% of the dose taken. These vitamins accumulate in significant quantities in the liver, making them potentially toxic.

Description Hard smooth dragees, covered with a red shell, with a sweet and sour taste (vitamins) and hard smooth dragees, coated with a blue shell (minerals). Pharmacotherapeutic group Multivitamins in combination with other drugs. Multivitamins with other minerals. ATC code A11AA03 Pharmacological properties Pharmacokinetics There are no data available for Duovit®, tablets. However, the absorption, distribution and elimination of individual vitamins and minerals are well known and described in the literature. Water-soluble vitamins (B vitamins, vitamin C and biotin) are very well absorbed within the daily requirement. The amount of excess tissue saturation is excreted in urine, and in some cases in feces. Vitamins are in limited quantities in the body, so they must be consumed regularly to maintain their concentration in tissues. Fat-soluble vitamins A and D, after oral administration, are well absorbed in the small intestine in the presence of fat. Vitamin E absorption is relatively low (from 25 to 85% of the dose). These vitamins are found in large quantities in the liver in the body, so they are more toxic than water-soluble vitamins. The effect of the drug Duovit® is the combined effect of its components, so kinetic observations are not possible; Collectively, the components cannot be traced using markers or bioassays. Pharmacodynamics Duovit® contains vitamins and minerals. Vitamins and minerals are closely related in their activity and additive effectiveness. Often, vitamins and minerals cannot be in the same composition; therefore, they are separated in Duovit®: the red dragee contains vitamins and the blue dragee contains minerals. Duovit® tablets replenish the body's need for vitamins and minerals and prevent their deficiency. Vitamins are biologically active substances that take part in many biochemical processes in the body. B vitamins (B1, B2, B6, pantothenic acid and nicotinamide) take part in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins, as well as in the activity of the nervous system. Vitamin A is necessary for the development of epithelial cells and the synthesis of visual pigment. Vitamin D regulates the utilization of calcium and promotes the mineralization of bones and teeth. Vitamin C increases iron absorption and is involved in many redox processes in the body. Vitamin E is a physiological antioxidant that protects membrane walls from damage and maintains their functional activity. Minerals and oligoelements are extremely important for the body. They are included as components of supporting tissues or as activators and components of enzymes and hormones. Calcium and phosphorus play a key role in the mineralization of bones and teeth. Calcium ions activate numerous enzymes, take part in regulating the tone of the heart muscle, transmitting nerve impulses, and regulating the permeability of cell membranes. B vitamins, iron and copper are the most important elements for the formation of red blood cells. Magnesium, manganese, zinc and molybdenum, as constituent components of enzymes, participate in reactions important for the body. Indications for use Duovit® is used as a prophylactic agent for conditions accompanied by an increased need for vitamins and minerals: - increased physical and neuropsychic stress - active sports - pregnancy and lactation - irregular, poor nutrition or monotonous diet - insufficient food conversion (in older people, smokers and alcohol abusers) - improper diet (mainly fast foods, dry food, when eating in public canteens) - limited diet (weight loss, diabetes, etc.) - during periods of shortage of fresh vegetables and fruits - period of recovery after illnesses - chemotherapy (as part of complex therapy) - with increased loss of minerals (vomiting, diarrhea, intense menstruation, increased sweating) Method of administration and dosage Duovit® Dragee is recommended to be taken after breakfast. Adults and children over 18 years of age are recommended to take 1 red tablet and 1 blue tablet once a day. The pills should be swallowed whole with a small amount of water. The course of treatment is up to 1 month. Subsequent treatment is possible after a break (from 1 to 3 months) or on the recommendation of a doctor. Side effects Very rare (<1/10,000): -hypersensitivity -Rarely (≥1/10,000 to <1/1,000): - disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, if the pills were taken on an empty stomach Contraindications - hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug - hypervitaminosis A and D - renal failure - childhood and adolescence up to 18 years. Drug interactions The drug is not recommended to be taken simultaneously with tetracycline antibiotics and antacids. Absorption of minerals and tetracyclines is reduced due to their simultaneous administration. Some antacids reduce the absorption of minerals. If treatment involves the simultaneous use of such drugs, it is necessary to maintain an interval between taking Duovit® and tetracycline antibiotics/antacids for at least 3 months. Special instructions Duovit® must be taken after meals to avoid discomfort in the stomach. Patients suffering from diabetes can take Duovit®, but it must be remembered that the daily dose contains 1.6 g of sugar. Each dragee contains about 0.8 g of sugar.
