Treatment of pancreatic diseases is a complex and labor-intensive process that requires the patient to constantly monitor their diet and regularly take medications. However, given the fact that not everyone, due to their health status or the presence of certain contraindications, can take medications, some people prefer to replace drug therapy with alternative medicine. But does treating the pancreas with folk remedies help? And which ones are the most effective? Now you will find out everything.
Linen
Drinks made from flaxseed, thanks to the substances included in the product, have the ability to coat the mucous membranes of the stomach. That is why, when symptoms of inflammation of the pancreas appear, flax-based products are among the most effective.
Flaxseed jelly helps a lot with pancreatitis. The drink helps restore the condition of the gland, alleviating the symptoms of inflammation. There are several recipes for preparing the product:
- One tbsp. l. fill with water (200 ml). Bring to a boil and leave for 60 minutes. Filter and drink warm.
- Pour flax seeds (80 grams) into 1 liter of water and cook for two hours. The resulting drink must be filtered. Drink 200 ml 30 minutes before meals.
- Take 3 tbsp. l. flax seeds, put in a thermos, pour boiling water (1 l). Leave it on all night. Drink a glass half an hour before meals.
While taking flaxseed jelly, you should drink a lot of clean water and reduce your salt intake.
Anatomy and functions of the pancreas
Nutrition plays a huge role in the treatment of pancreas
The human pancreas is the most important mixed secretion gland. This organ releases hormones into the blood and synthesizes digestive enzymes, which are necessary for the absorption of proteins, carbohydrates and fats.
The pancreas is located in the abdominal cavity next to the stomach and small intestine. This organ is functionally connected to the duodenum, where enzymes are released during digestion.
Main functions of the organ:
- Breakdown of complex protein, lipid and carbohydrate substrates into simple components.
- Release of glucagon and insulin into the blood. These hormonal substances affect the metabolism of carbohydrates in the body.
- Damage to areas of the organ that synthesize insulin is one of the causes of diabetes mellitus.
The pancreas is often exposed to various pathological factors. This may be inflammation of the glandular tissue as a result of blockage of the excretory ducts, infection and the growth of malignant cells. In this case, diseases of the organ affect both digestive and metabolic functions.
Oats
Restoration of the pancreas can be achieved by treatment with oat-based products. To stabilize the functioning of the pancreas, the menu must include oatmeal porridge cooked in water. To relieve a pancreatic attack, you can drink oat milk.
It is prepared as follows: pour 100 g of oats (unpeeled) with boiling water (500 ml) and cook at a minimum boil for 40 minutes. Grind the porridge and let cool. Drink ½ cup of liquid collected on the surface three times a day before meals. Store the finished drink in the refrigerator for no longer than 48 hours.
A reliable way to stabilize the pancreas is oatmeal broth. Pour one kilogram of pre-washed product with water so that the liquid covers the surface of the grain. Place the container in a warm place, covering it with gauze. Sprouted oats need to be dried and ground into flour. One tbsp. l. pour the finished product with water (60 ml). Stir well. Then add boiling water (200 ml) and cook for two minutes. Leave for 30 minutes. Drink strictly before meals.
Curdled milk
Surprisingly, fermented milk products are suitable for the treatment of pancreatic diseases not only for their internal use. Many people are helped by applying a linen cloth soaked in ordinary yogurt to the left hypochondrium in the stomach area before going to bed. Such a compress must be covered with cellophane and secured by wrapping the body with a woolen scarf. Perhaps there is a placebo effect here, but this recipe, nevertheless, is included in the numerous list of folk methods that alleviate the symptoms of pancreatitis.
Chamomile
An effective natural remedy for pancreatic diseases is chamomile. Among the main capabilities of the plant it is worth highlighting:
- anti-inflammatory effect;
- analgesic, disinfecting effect;
- protection of the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract (gastrointestinal tract) from the aggressive influence of acid produced by stomach receptors.
Chamomile tea will help heal the pancreas. Two tbsp. l. Pour boiling water (200 ml) over the dried flowers of the plant. Infuse the drink for 15 minutes. Filter. Tea can be slightly sweetened with honey.
Important! In acute pancreatitis, tea intake is strictly limited. In case of a chronic course of the disease, the course duration is one to two months.
Chamomile tea is one of the effective treatments for chronic pancreatitis.

Symptoms
Dysfunction of the pancreas is characterized by a variety of symptoms. Acute pancreatitis is manifested by sharp pain in the hypochondrium, in the pit of the stomach, which is accompanied by frequent attacks of nausea and vomiting, decreased blood pressure, and rapid pulse. The pain syndrome may be shingles in nature.
In chronic pancreatitis, exacerbations alternate with periods of remission, typical signs of which are loss of appetite, general weakness, fatigue, constant rumbling in the stomach due to increased gas formation, and bowel dysfunction (constipation or diarrhea). In diabetes mellitus, characteristic symptoms occur with the development of hyperglycemic syndrome. At such moments, the patient feels unquenchable thirst, dry skin, chilly limbs, headache, and blurred vision.
For long-term chronic pancreatitis and type 2 diabetes mellitus (non-insulin-dependent), recovery can be significantly accelerated with the help of traditional medicine recipes.
Mint
If we talk about what other herbs can treat the pancreas, then this is mint. The plant helps relieve inflammation, restore the organ, and eliminate pain. In addition, while taking mint, liver tissue is cleansed and bile flow improves. When an attack of pancreatitis develops, it is recommended to prepare mint tea.
Grind four fresh leaves of the plant, pour boiling water (250 ml). Wait a little and drain the water. Pour the mint again with the same volume of boiling water and let it brew for 3 minutes. The drink should be consumed warm. If desired, you can add a spoonful of honey if there are no contraindications, for example, diabetes.
To prepare a mint decoction, which is no less effective for pathologies of the pancreas, you need one tbsp. l. Brew dry mint with boiling water (500 ml). Bring it to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and leave for 15 minutes with the lid closed, filter. Drink 100 ml three times a day half an hour before meals.
To stabilize the condition, you can take a herbal mixture containing not only mint, but also other beneficial herbs. Mix equal parts of oregano, mint and lemon balm. Pour boiling water over it. Leave covered for 40 minutes. Filter. Take the product before meals (30 minutes). The drink helps restore pancreas functions and also triggers self-regeneration processes.

Is alternative medicine effective?
It is impossible to say that traditional methods of treating pancreatitis are ineffective. Their only drawback is that they work slowly, but the results achieved with their use last a long time. Therefore, it is recommended to treat pancreatitis at home with folk remedies in courses that can last several months.
But it should be said right away that it is impossible to cure chronic pancreatitis using unconventional methods of treatment. Even modern medicine cannot do this. Therefore, you should not hope for a miracle. This disease, unfortunately, is incurable.
Non-traditional methods of treating pancreatitis can only be used after consultation with a doctor
But you can still fight the disease in its acute form. If you start treating it immediately after its occurrence, you can easily prevent the transition of acute pancreatitis to chronic and avoid relapses of the disease. But even in this case, constant prevention is required, which includes diet, an active lifestyle, a complete cessation of smoking and alcohol, as well as periodic drug treatment, which can be easily replaced with alternative medicine, but provided that if the attending physician this will be approved.
Folk remedies for the treatment of pancreatitis are different. But almost all of them involve the use of various herbs and food products containing certain substances that contribute to:
- relieving inflammatory reactions;
- increasing immunity;
- activation of regeneration processes (cell restoration);
- normalization of metabolic processes;
- eliminating spasms;
- decreased production of pancreatic juice and bile;
- restoration of the excretory ducts;
- normalization of blood sugar levels.
All these properties of non-traditional remedies provide quick and effective elimination of the symptoms of the disease, as well as improvement in the general condition of the patient. But the most important advantage of traditional treatment is that it helps prevent the development of complications in pancreatitis and cholecystitis, due to which the likelihood of the patient once again ending up in a hospital bed is reduced several times.
Folk remedies for various diseases
The following describes effective recipes for various pathologies of the pancreas.
Pancreatic cyst
A pancreatic cyst is a neoplasm in the pancreas tissue in the form of a capsule formed by dense fibrous tissue, filled with fluid. When diagnosing such changes, you can use the following proven recipes:
- Mix equal proportions of calendula, celandine and yarrow. One tsp. pour boiling water (200 ml) over the mixture and leave for two hours. Filter. Drink a third of a glass half an hour before meals. Course duration is a calendar month. Then take a week's break and continue therapy with the next prescription.

This scheme allows you to reduce the size of the cystic formation.
Pancreatic polyps are benign neoplasms characterized by slow growth. Treatment with folk remedies for such a diagnosis is not carried out. When the polyp reaches a large size, the patient is recommended to undergo surgical removal of the formation.
Pancreas cancer
It is possible to cure pancreatic cancer using traditional methods only at the beginning of tumor formation. You can use the following recipes. One tbsp. l. Treatment is carried out according to the scheme. Start taking the product with one drop. Every day the volume increases by a drop. After the daily dose reaches 20 drops, it should be reduced by one drop daily.
Lipomatosis
Lipomatosis is an irreversible process accompanied by the replacement of functional cells with fat cells. To stabilize the pancreas and slow down the process, you can use the following recipe:
- Combine nettle, valerian, St. John's wort and calendula (take 1 tbsp for each component).
- One tbsp. l. pour boiling water (200 ml) over the mix. Leave until completely cool.
- Filter the product.
The resulting volume must be drunk throughout the day. Traditional treatment of lipomatosis can be carried out using ready-made hemlock tincture. The duration of treatment is 80 days according to a specific scheme. You need to start treatment with one drop, increasing the amount by one drop daily. After the daily dose reaches 40 drops, you must begin reducing it by one drop daily.
Important! The plant is poisonous, so exceeding the dosage is unacceptable.

How to quickly get rid of pain
The first rule to follow when experiencing an attack of acute pancreatic pain is to immediately call an ambulance.
- If pancreatitis is chronic, each subsequent attack increases the risk of developing necrotic processes leading to complete dysfunction of the organ.
- If the attack occurs for the first time, only specialists can confirm or deny inflammation of the pancreas.
The pain during an attack is usually very severe, so you shouldn’t wait idly by. The patient needs to lie on his back, if comfortable, bend his knees. Apply a heating pad with ice to the area with aggravated painful sensations; if you don’t have one at hand, you can simply take any product from the freezer. A heating pad is applied for 20 minutes, then it is removed for a few minutes; if the pain is still severe, the procedure is repeated.
The next stage of emergency care for an attack of pain in the pancreas is taking painkillers. If pancreatitis is chronic, the patient’s first aid kit must contain medications prescribed by the doctor in case of an attack. If not, you can use the following medications: No-shpa, Mezim, Pancreatin. It is not recommended to get out of bed until the pain passes or the ambulance arrives.
Advice! Doctors say that to relieve an attack you need three things: cold, hunger and rest. The first is a heating pad with ice, the second is refusal to eat, the third is the patient lying down until the pain passes.

Potato juice
City residents suffering from pancreatitis can relieve their condition with freshly prepared potato juice. To prepare one serving of the healing potion, you need to take two medium-sized potato tubers, rinse them thoroughly and grate them on a fine grater without removing the peel. From the resulting mass, squeeze out the juice through cheesecloth, which is taken twice a day, half a glass. Considering that potatoes contain a large amount of starch, this juice is consumed for 14 days, and then a week break is taken. After this, home therapy with potato juice can be repeated, but it is not recommended to carry out a similar treatment regimen more than 3 times.
