Fruits and vegetables

Freshly squeezed citrus juices stimulate the excretion of bile.

The first place can be given to citrus fruits. Lemon, oranges, tangerines are welcome guests on the dinner table. It is healthy and tasty to drink a glass of citrus juice in the morning to stimulate the excretion of bile after a night of stagnation. In addition, citrus fruits are rich in vitamin C, which helps strengthen the immune system. Fruits such as apples, bananas, prunes, and avocados also help normalize the flow of bile, and in the summer, by eating strawberries or wild strawberries, you can refuse to take infusions of choleretic herbs. Vegetables containing more plant fiber enhance the excretion of bile. Both salads made from raw carrots, beets, cucumbers and cabbage, as well as stews from these stewed vegetables and vegetable broths, will be useful.

Choleretic drinks

Drinks that stimulate the flow of bile help normalize the motility of the biliary tract and gallbladder; they are a variety of teas, decoctions, juices and low-mineralized water, which should be drunk warm and without gas an hour before meals. Choleretic juices include grape juice, beet juice, black radish juice, cabbage and lingonberry juice. Individual herbs or herbal mixtures are suitable for decoctions, which should include from three to five herbs. The herbal collection can also be brewed as tea. Recommended herbs:

  • valerian root;
  • motherwort;
  • hawthorn fruits;
  • lemon balm or mint;
  • corn silk.

Herbs and spices

Spices will help cope with congestion in the bile ducts.

Herbs and spices such as turmeric, dill, fennel, parsley, cilantro, rhubarb, spinach, ginger have a good choleretic effect. For example, ginger is a natural spice that contains amino acids, B vitamins, vitamin C and A, magnesium salts, phosphorus, calcium, iron and other trace elements, which perfectly stimulates the flow of bile. Ginger can be added to teas and used in cooking. A simple and familiar plant, dill is widely used in folk medicine as a choleretic agent; in addition, dill increases the secretion of gastric glands and has diuretic and antispasmodic effects. The seeds are mainly used to prepare decoctions and tinctures. Use herbs and spices in cooking; they will not only reveal the taste of dishes, but also help in the fight against bile stagnation.

Vegetable oils

For bile stagnation, it is recommended to use olive, sunflower or corn oil. Vegetable oils in the diet stimulate contraction of the gallbladder and cause maximum opening of the bile ducts. Fatty acids contained in vegetable oils also improve metabolism. If you want to enhance the choleretic effect of food, then you need to increase the proportion of vegetable oil in your dishes. It should be noted that oil has a stimulating effect only in its “raw” form; after heat treatment it loses its beneficial properties, and after frying it is completely dangerous to health.

Foods that interfere with the flow of bile

Rich broths prevent the outflow of bile.

Along with a wide selection of choleretic products, there are products that promote stagnation of bile and reduce the motility of the biliary tract. These products include: rich fish, meat and mushroom broths; pork, goose, lamb or duck fats; smoked, spicy and salty foods; millet and black bread, they contain coarse fiber that is poorly digested; chocolate, baked goods, cocoa, strong tea and coffee; peas, mushrooms, nuts, legumes, radishes, radishes, onions, turnips, garlic; ice cream, carbonated drinks.

Choleretic property of bran

If the liver or gallbladder is malfunctioning, it is useful to take bran as a dietary supplement. Bran consists of grain shells and unsorted flour, which provides a high content of dietary fiber. Bran enhances mechanical stimulation of the gastrointestinal tract. Bran contains B vitamins, keratin, vitamin E and PP, as well as copper, magnesium, potassium and other trace elements. You can take bran with food or between meals; add it to yogurt, kefir or other dairy products. You should start taking it with a teaspoon, the maximum dose per day should not exceed 50 grams.
