Contractubex 20g gel for external use

Contractubex is an effective drug with a combined pharmacological effect. Intended for the treatment of a wide range of diseases of the skin, joints and the prevention of postoperative complications. The drug has contraindications and side effects, so it is recommended to take it as directed by a specialist.

Composition, dosage form

In the pharmaceutical industry, Contractubex is produced in the form of an ointment: a gel-like viscous substance of light brown color with a distinct onion aroma. The product is packaged in metal tubes of 20 and 50 g.

The medicinal gel contains 3 active compounds:

  • onion extract: 10%;
  • heparin - a restorative and anti-inflammatory substance: 5000 IU per 100 g of drug weight;
  • allantoin - regenerating component: 1%.

In addition to them, the ointment contains distilled water, stabilizers and perfume.

How to take Contractubex

Leniment is intended for external use. The medicine is applied to a certain area of the epidermis in a thin layer and rubbed in thoroughly. At one time it is allowed to cover a skin area of up to 22 cm. The ointment can be used 2-3 times a day.

The duration of the course of therapy is 4 weeks.

In particularly severe situations, when there are pronounced scars and skin deformations, Contractubex is used in conjunction with an occlusive dressing. To do this, take a cloth, soak it in the product and apply it to the body. It is advisable to carry out this procedure before bedtime. Such use of the drug lasts 6-12 months.

pharmachologic effect

The complex of biologically active ingredients of the drug provides an antiproliferative effect, slows down the growth of coarse scar fibers, and reduces the intensity of inflammation in areas of skin damage.

Onion extract has bactericidal properties, prevents the development of suppuration, stops allergic reactions, blocks the release of inflammatory mediators, and inhibits the processes of mitosis and division of connective tissue cells. Thanks to this, the developing scars do not grow excessively.

Heparin acts on the skin, accelerating the healing of damage:

  • eliminates swelling;
  • reduces pain;
  • inhibits the division of scar tissue cells;
  • improves microcirculation and blood circulation;
  • helps reduce hyperemia and hyperthermia at the site of inflammation.

The substance helps saturate the deep layers of the dermis with moisture, which improves collagen synthesis and prevents the compaction of the scar structure. This provides damaged areas of the skin with a cosmetic effect: normal elasticity, smoothing the relief of scars.

Allantoin promotes epithelization of wounds and prevents secondary infections. The substance has pronounced keratolytic properties:

  • improves trophism;
  • softens the skin structure;
  • improves the flow of water and nutrition into cells;
  • eliminates itching, burning and pain.

The active components of Contractubex penetrate the scar tissue within 3–4 hours after application. The drug is absorbed into the systemic circulation in small quantities.

Side effects

Contractubex ointment is well tolerated. Side effects rarely occur with its use. However, for individuals the following may occur:

  1. Pain at the site of application of the drug.
  2. Allergic reactions, accompanied by itching, rashes, hyperemia, burning. There may be hives.
  3. Erythema.
  4. Swelling of soft tissues.
  5. Signs of hypersensitivity.
  6. Mild pustular formations on the skin.

Indications

Therapeutic ointment is prescribed:

  • for keloid, atrophic and hypertrophic scars;
  • for the treatment of scars after boils, moles and acne;
  • to restore deformed areas of skin after burns;
  • in the complex treatment of ankylosis and contractures of articular structures;
  • with Dupuytren's contracture;
  • to eliminate and prevent the appearance of traumatic skin defects.

Can it be used during pregnancy and lactation?

Leniment is applied topically, the active and auxiliary components do not penetrate the bloodstream and do not have a comprehensive effect on the entire body as a whole. Therefore, the period of bearing a child is not a contraindication to the use of the product.

On the contrary, the ointment helps fight stretch marks in the chest and abdomen.

Since the content of medicinal substances is not observed in breast milk, the medicine is widely prescribed to nursing mothers. However, you should consult your doctor about the advisability of use, who will determine the duration of the course and dosage.

Application

A small amount of ointment is rubbed into the affected areas until completely absorbed. The procedure is repeated 2-3 times a day. At the same time, it is recommended to treat no more than 20 cm² of skin, applying the product in a layer of about 3–5 mm.

When treating fresh scars, the course of treatment lasts up to 4 weeks. Therapy of old compacted defects requires the use of ointment for up to six months daily. Treatment of contractures can take up to 1 year.

To enhance the effectiveness of the ointment, it is recommended to cover the skin with a moisture-proof bandage after application. The best results can be achieved by leaving the applications on all night.

During the period of use of the ointment, ultraviolet irradiation, rough physical impact, overheating or hypothermia of the skin should be avoided.

Simultaneous treatment of scars and injuries with Contractubex and other drugs for external use is allowed.

Indications for use

A local medicine is prescribed in the following cases:

  1. Skin damage due to burns.
  2. Striae due to pregnancy.
  3. Scarring of the skin as a result of purulent dermatological conditions and acne.

Contractubex

Contractubex is a German combination drug for external use that promotes the resorption of keloid (overgrown) scars. The effect of the drug is determined by the summation of the pharmacological effects of all its components. Thus, Serae bulb extract has a fibrinolytic (dissolving fibrin clots) and anti-inflammatory effect, heparin has an antithrombotic effect, and allantoin has a keratolytic (softening the stratum corneum of the epidermis) effect. In experimental studies, it was found that four hours is enough for heparin to penetrate in sufficient quantities into the connective tissue of the dermis. Serae bulb extract and allantoin help him in this, providing transepidermal heparinization - deep penetration of heparin to the site of the development of the main pharmacodynamic “events”. For many years, contractubex has been used in surgery and cosmetology and succeeds, in particular, in the treatment of burn and post-operative scars, stretch marks after childbirth or after sudden weight loss. It is used for both fresh and old scars, regardless of the cause of their occurrence, be it a thermal or chemical burn, mechanical damage to the skin, acne, vaccination or surgery. Contractubex has been successfully used to treat scars caused by tattoo removal. This area of use of the drug is especially popular nowadays: there are more and more tattoos and it is not surprising, which is why the need to reduce them (fashion is a fickle matter) arises more and more often. One of the most popular tattoo removal methods is laser correction. However, even he does not insure the lover of fine art on the skin from scars. Contractubex, used between laser therapy sessions, will stimulate the regeneration processes of skin damaged during tattoo removal and prevent the formation of rough scars.

The effectiveness of the drug has been confirmed by numerous clinical trials. The combination of three pharmacologically active components of Contractubex allows radical intervention in the processes of scar formation in the deep (down to the subcutaneous fatty tissue) layers of the skin, which provides the most favorable prognosis. The advertising brochures of the manufacturer, a German pharmaceutical company, loudly announce the “triple blow” of Contractubex on scars and cicatrices, which, however, is not far from the truth. The drug actually exhibits activity in three directions: it prevents excessive formation of scar tissue, reduces discomfort (redness, itching and a feeling of tightness of the skin) and improves the elasticity of the scar. Treatment with contractubex is recommended to begin immediately after healing of the wound or removal of surgical sutures. The gel should be applied to the wound surface in a thin layer, and then rubbed in with light massaging movements from the center of the scar to the periphery. Being absorbed into the skin, the drug leaves a slightly noticeable film on it, which has an additional protective effect. The gel must be used 2-3 times a day for at least 3 months (for fresh scars) or about six months (for old scars). Since the healing process of damaged tissue is quite slow, you should not expect any noticeable results already in the initial stages of using Contractubex. Even in the case of fresh scars, the first positive results can be seen no earlier than a month, provided that the gel is regularly applied to the wound surface. Skin hyperemia will gradually decrease, the scar will become more elastic, and itching will subside. Contractubex has a favorable safety profile and can be used even in children of the first year of life. To enhance the therapeutic effect, it is recommended to steam the skin before use.
