Tradename LACTOBACTERIN DRY (Lactobacterinum siccum)

Latin name LACTOBACTERINUM SICCUM

General characteristics Lactobacterin dry is a microbial mass of live lactobacilli, lyophilized in a cultivation medium with the addition of one of the protective media: sucrose-gelatose, milk-sucrose-gelatose or skim milk. Produced in dry form in ampoules or vials (bottles) from 1 to 20 doses and in tablet form. One tablet contains 1 dose. The drug in ampoules or vials (bottles) is a crystalline or porous mass of yellowish-brown color. The tablet is round in shape with flat or slightly convex surfaces from yellowish-gray to beige, “marbling” color is allowed. The drug has a sour milk smell and taste.

Release form Produced in dry form in ampoules or vials (bottles) from 1 to 20 doses and in tablet form. One tablet contains 1 dose.

Pharmacological properties The therapeutic effect of the drug is due to the antagonistic effect of microbial cells of lactobacilli on pathogenic and conditionally pathogenic microorganisms.

Indications for use Lactobacterin dry is intended for the treatment of children and adults suffering from chronic colitis of various etiologies, including nonspecific ulcerative colitis, somatic diseases complicated by dysbacteriosis that arose during the use of antibiotics, sulfonamide drugs and for other reasons, for persons who have suffered acute intestinal infections , in the presence of intestinal dysfunction or the release of pathogenic and conditionally pathogenic bacteria, as well as in obstetric and gynecological practice for the sanitation of the genital tract in the case of nonspecific inflammatory diseases of the genitals and prenatal preparation of pregnant “at-risk” groups with violation of the purity of vaginal secretions up to III-IV degrees. Corrective therapy with lactobacterin can be prescribed after a course of treatment with specific bacteriophages designed to eliminate opportunistic bacteria. Lactobacterin in ampoules and vials (bottles) is prescribed to children from the first months of life, in tablets from 3 years of age.

Method of administration and dosage The main method of using Lactobacterin is through the mouth. The stem of the ampoule is sawed off with a knife and broken off. To avoid glass getting into the ampoule, it is necessary to hold the ampoule with the stem down when breaking it. Remove the metal cap and rubber stopper from the bottle. The contents of the ampoule or vial (bottle) are dissolved with boiled cooled water at the rate of a teaspoon per 1 dose of the drug. Method of dissolution: pour the required number of teaspoons of water into a glass (in accordance with the number of doses indicated on the label (1 teaspoon per 1 dose). Dissolve the drug in an ampoule or vial (bottle) with a small amount of this water. The drug dissolves in no more than 5 minutes , creating a homogeneous mixture of yellowish-brown color with a sour milk smell. Next, the contents of the ampoule, bottle (bottle) are transferred to a glass, mixed, the dissolved drug cannot be stored. Lactobacterin tablets are washed down with boiled water. The drug is taken 40 minutes - 1 hour before meals, it is advisable to drink milk. Treatment is recommended to be accompanied by taking vitamins. Considering the high antibiotic resistance of lactobacilli, the use of lactobacterin does not interfere with antibiotic therapy. LACTOBACTERIN IS USED: a) in the case of protracted and chronic dysentery, with post-dysenteric colitis, after-treatment of convalescents after acute intestinal infections, as well as in the case of prolonged intestinal dysfunction unknown etiology; treatment is carried out for at least 4-6 weeks; b) in the case of nonspecific ulcerative colitis, as well as chronic colitis and enterocolitis, treatment is carried out for up to 1.5-2 months; c) in the case of dysbacteriosis of various etiologies, treatment is carried out for 3-4 weeks. If there is no effect from using the drug within 2 weeks, it is necessary to re-examine the microflora of the gastrointestinal tract and adjust the latter depending on the result obtained. In order to consolidate the obtained clinical effect and in the absence of complete normalization of the microflora, after the end of the course of treatment, a re-examination of the intestinal microflora and, if necessary, maintenance doses of the drug (half the daily dose) are prescribed for 1-1.5 months. For diseases that occur with relapses, repeated courses of treatment are advisable. In these cases, before prescribing the drug, it is necessary to re-examine the microflora. Lactobacterin is used in the following daily doses in adults and children, depending on age: children under 6 months - 1-2 doses; from 6 months to 1 year - 2-3 doses; from 1 year to 3 years - 3-4 doses; after 3 years - 4-10 doses or 4-10 tablets; adults - 6-10 doses or 6-10 tablets. The contents of the ampoule or vial (bottle) are dissolved in 5 ml of boiled water cooled to room temperature. A cotton or gauze sterile swab is soaked with the resulting mixture of the drug, which is inserted intravaginally and left for 2-3 hours. In the case of inflammatory diseases of the genitals, Lactobacterin is prescribed 3 doses 2 times a day intravaginally for 10-12 days from the 10-12th day of the menstrual cycle. For prenatal preparation of pregnant women at risk, Lactobacterin is prescribed 5-6 doses once a day for 5-8 days.
